What is Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card?
Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card is a card which allows you to make payments in a fraction of seconds, just by tapping the card on the card reader (supporting contactless transactions). You don’t need to enter the PIN for completing contactless payments below ₹5,000 at the NFC-enabled merchant terminals. Above ₹5,000, you can still tap the card to make contactless payments, but PIN entry is mandatory. -
How does contactless technology function?
A contactless card is a chip card with an inbuilt radio frequency antenna. This antenna uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to establish a secure connection with a contactless reader to transmit payment-related data. Hence, a contactless card need not be in contact with the reader, a simple tap on the reader will initiate a contactless transaction -

What is the difference between a regular Bandhan Bank RuPay Classic Debit Card and a Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card?
Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card is a Dual Interface card that supports both contact and contactless transactions, whereas a regular RuPay (EMV/Chip card) can only support domestic contact transactions and card, not present transactions (e-commerce payment or online payment). -
How do I know if my Bandhan Bank RuPay Debit Card is a contactless card?
To know if the card is RuPay contactless card, you need to check for the contactless indicator, published on its front.

Will all Point of Sale terminals accept my RuPay contactless card?
NPCI requires all contactless/dual interface RuPay payment devices to carry RuPay contactless indicator while supporting contactless payments. If the RuPay contactless indicator is present on the payment device, you can make “Contactless” payments using Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Debit card, whereas if the indicator is absent, you have to dip/swipe the debit card and enter 4 digits PIN to make payment. -
Where can I use my Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card?
- ATMs for cash withdrawal
- Restaurants and other retail outlets
- Transit fare payment system including metros, buses, etc.
- Toll payments

Kindly note that at the time of Debit Card issuance, the Debit Card will be enabled only for domestic ATM and domestic PoS transactions only and you will have to enable the same for online payments, contactless as well as international transactions by logging on to the Internet banking or mobile banking or by visiting your nearest Bandhan Bank branch.

Can I use my Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit cards to make a purchase of more than ₹5,000?
Yes, you can use your Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card irrespective of the transaction value up to maximum permissible limit or the transaction limit you have set up for your card by authenticating yourself with Debit Card ATM PIN or OTP. -
Do I need to enter the PIN while using Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit cards?
For all retail purchase transactions up to ₹5,000, PIN is not required for contactless transactions; for amounts more than ₹5,000, you may choose to dip/swipe/tap the card followed by mandatory PIN entry. -
Can I use my Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit cards outside India?
Yes, this card can be used outside India. The processing is as per regular transaction i.e. by dipping/swiping and entering the PIN. You will have to enable your Debit Card for International Usage before initiating any International transactions. -
Could I unknowingly make a purchase if I come across the contactless card reader?
No, the merchant/operator must enter the payment amount for initiating the transaction. Also, the card or device has to be held within 4 cm of the card reader to make any payment. -
Will I be charged additionally for making contactless payments?
No. There are no additional charges levied to make a contactless payment. -
Is my Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum Contactless Debit Card protected from the threat of fraud?
Yes, your Bandhan Bank RuPay International Platinum contactless debit card is as secure as any other Bandhan Bank Debit Card. It contains a highly secure EMV chip, hence it cannot be cloned easily. Also, you need not have to handover the card to anybody; just have to tap the card for completing the transaction. -
How will I know if the transaction is successful?
If the transaction is successful, the terminal/device will display the message. Also, you may receive a charge slip after doing the transaction. -
What if I wave the card more than twice at the terminal? Will I be charged repeatedly?
No. Once a payment is successful (one tap or two taps depending upon transactions), a new payment transaction has to be initiated by the reader by entering the amount. Multiple taps will not result in deducting the amount more than once. -
What is the validity period of my card?
The card is valid up to the expiry date as mentioned on the card. -
What should I do if my card is lost?
As a cardholder, you are responsible for the security of the card. If the card is lost or stolen, you should report the loss/ theft to the issuer’s customer care centre. The Card Issuer bank, upon adequate verification, shall hotlist the card and terminate all online facilities on the card. The residual balance in the NCMC wallet of the Debit Card shall not be refunded.
Service of the lost/stolen card is deemed to be void as these cannot be transferred from one card to another or cannot be compensated in terms of monetary value. -
Will I get an account statement of all contactless payments?
Yes, you may view the statement of your online contactless transactions in your accounts statement.
You may view the statement for the offline transactions of your card balance by logging in to Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, or by visiting your nearest Bandhan Bank branch. -
What happens when my card is expired?
You are advised to return the expired card to the Bank and request for refund of the residual wallet amount. Upon adequate check and due diligence, the Bank shall initiate the refund of the balance on the card to the wallet of the newly issued card. The balance will be transferred to the wallet of the newly issued card after a cooling period of 4 days. However, you are advised to exhaust the wallet balance of the card before expiry, cancellation, or closure.
Services written on the expired card are deemed to be void as these cannot be transferred from one card to another or cannot be compensated in terms of monetary value. -
What happens when my card is damaged?
In case of damage to your card, you are advised to visit the nearest Bandhan Bank branch and surrender the card. Bank will transfer the balance of whatever amount is left in the wallet account of the newly issued card after a cooling period of 4 days from card hotlist. The amount pushed to the new wallet account has to be flagged and written on to the card via online transaction. Any extra balance refunded to be adjusted against the primary (CASA/Credit) balance of the newly replaced card as customer will be with the bank or otherwise issuer can raise a late presentment If the customer does not surrender the damaged card, the latest balance available in the wallet account cannot be transferred to the card linked deposit account (savings or current) account -
What happens when my card is closed?
You are advised to visit the nearest branch for closure of your card. On submission of the card to the branch, the branch will initiate a refund of the wallet account to the primary account of the customer after a cooling period of 4 days.
In case you have written/created any services on the card, then you will have to recreate/re-write the service again on the newly issued card by coordinating with the merchant directly.
